How do I remove an image background?
Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP image, or choose one of the sample photos. BackdropZap detects the main subject and removes the background automatically. Then download a transparent PNG or pick a new background.
Is BackdropZap free?
You can remove up to 10 backgrounds per visitor each day without an account. Free PNG downloads are up to 0.25 megapixels, with no watermark. Create an account for 10 free full-resolution credits, subject to verification and trial eligibility.
Are my images private?
Free preview processing uploads your image to BackdropZap and sends a resized copy to fal.ai. Temporary uploads and results are removed automatically by scheduled expiry cleanup. Signed-in images use full-resolution cloud processing and one credit per successful image. Saved images use your private account storage.
Which images work best?
A clearly visible subject with contrast against its background works best. Fine hair, glass, and very busy scenes may need a touch-up with the Erase and Restore brushes.
What file sizes can I use?
Use JPG, PNG, or WebP images up to 20 MB and 50 megapixels. The on-screen preview is up to 1024 pixels on its longest edge; free downloads are up to 0.25 megapixels. Animated images and SVG files are not supported.
